Seminar Series
Winter 2013 Design and Social Entrepreneurship
Design has often played a strong role in entrepreneurship. Many of the most important and successful companies were founded on a culture of design. Recently, designers young and old, have been applying their design skills to the problems of society. These efforts now often lead to either non-profit organizations or into commercial companies with a passion for societal improvement, not just monetary profit. Guest speakers this quarter include Will Harris from Design that Matters; Alan Hurt from Light Up Africa; and Hannah Chung and Aaron Horowitz from Sproutel, Inc. The series is hosted by Segal's Bruce Ankenman, Sami Nerenberg, and Liz Gerber and is co-sponsored by Design for America.
