Certificate in Engineering Design
Through the certificate program, I have seen so many sides and aspects to engineering and design...the skills I learned as an engineer in the design certificate program can be applied to my future goals even outside of engineering.
- Chiana Hung, Certificate in Engineering Design, '09
The Certificate in Engineering Design (CED) program enables undergraduate students to develop design knowledge and skills that provide a competitive edge in their careers. The CED is open to all majors.
CED focuses on innovative engineering design in a team-based, cross-disciplinary setting. "Innovative design" implies both identifying and solving real-world problems, for actual clients. The culmination of the CED is an Engineering Design Portfolio to be created and presented by each student.
Students interested in pursuing the certificate should contact Stacy Benjamin at s-benjamin@northwestern.edu or 847-491-2013.
